Fabric Chair
A piece of furniture inspired by wheat-pasting, a street art technique. My own constraint: spend as little money as possible.

Design Process
Inspired by images of wheat-pasting in street art, I investigated the peeling, layered, torn, repetitive, and textural elements of the art form. Working within my own constraints, I used recycled and discarded materials wherever possible, from prototyping to final construction.

Sketch.
Prototype.
Though I spent weeks sketching, I found most of my ideas and design development through making small prototypes, working directly with the materials I had on hand.
My final design was an extension of this concept - strips of fabric wrapped around a base made of square metal bar. The design was constructed of leftover scrap metal from the school shop and fabric from a recycled arts center and thrift stores.
