Harmonic Design: Practioner Development

Harmonic Design is a service design consultancy, one of the few firms in the US that focuses exclusively on SD. Their team of designers come from a variety of disciplines and are constantly looking to stay on the edge of what is new in the field. I worked with Harmonic’s designers on an internal project to understand what practices and policies the company could adopt to best support their designers in continuing to develop and explore their personal practices.

Harmonic Design - Internal Project
Spring 2023

The internal project proved to be very important to the employees, who also felt it was important to share with the wider service design field. Harmonic Design published my report on the project to their blog and social media:

Methods included:

  • research project planning and scoping

  • literature review

  • survey development

  • expert interviews

  • semi-structured user interviews with digital boundary objects

  • scenario development

Delivered at end of project:
